A recently slain cop joins a team of undead police officers working for the Rest in Peace Department and tries to find the man who murdered him. Nick, a cop, gets murdered by his own partner. He joins the R.I.P.D. (Rest in Peace Department), an alternate reality and a police force. They find Deados, souls that refuse to go to the afterlife, from wreaking havoc on life as we know it. Upon joining the R.I.P.D., Nick is paired with a lawman of the Old West, Roy. Upon returning back to Earth, Nick has the appearance of an old Chinese dude, while Roy has the appearance of a smoking hot blonde chick. It might be bad enough that Nick is unable to reunite with his wife, but what's worse is that these Deados will bring upon diabolical worldwide disaster. Nick and Roy must put a stop to these Deados before it's too little too late! The movie had a weak start, I wish they had started it with him going to work like it had led on in the previews. Instead it starts off with him having already started the job as an RIPD officer. This doesn't work because there is no later reference to this being told through flashbacks other than the very begin. It's not a good attention grabber. <br/><br/>Other than the afore mentioned issue with the start, I have no big complaints. The story was cool and the effects were good for how many there were, I felt like 80% of the movie was CGI so you can't expect every effect to be amazing. The acting was good, not great, but good. it's just an all around okay movie, not bad, not great. I would recommend seeing it definitely. This film is about a policeman who is shot dead by a colleague. He goes back to the mortal world by becoming a cop in the Rest in Peace Department.<br/><br/>"R.I.P.D." reminds me of "Ghostbusters", only the Ghostbusters themselves are ghosts. The plot sounds interesting on paper, but in "R.I.P.D." the execution of the story is not so fun. Jeff Bridges tries too hard to be a tough cop, while Ryan Reynolds is not so convincing in the role either. The constant over-acting and over the top scenes make my eyes roll, and there were so many "Did that just happen" moments.<br/><br/>If you are looking for a silly and forgettable film to waste time on, this is a film for you. Otherwise, you can avoid watching this film. The whole thing seems ill-conceived from the start, unable to keep its parameters simple – think of Ghostbusters and “Don’t cross the streams!” – but also lacking any genuine comic spark or imagination. It’s an exhausting 98 minute ride to nowhere.
